Susan trained at Central and the Laban Centre for Dance. Her theatre credits include The Crucible for the RSC at Stratford and The Gielgud, Vincent in Brixton for the National Theatre at the Wyndhams and the Playhouse, Noises Off for the National Theatre at the Piccadilly Theatre, Dancing At Lughnasa at the Torch Theatre and tour, Tell Me for Manchester Contact, The Price for the English Theatre of Hamburg, The Last Yankee at the Duke of Yorks, The House of Bernarda Alba at the Gate, A Night In Tunisia at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, Song for a Sanctuary at the Lyric Studio, Hammersmith and Birmingham Repertory, I Bertolt Brecht at the Belfast Festival and tour, On The Black Hill for Theatr Clwyd/Made in Wales, New Anatomies at the Edinburgh Festival, ICA and tour and The Maids at the Bolton Octagon. She also toured internationally with the RSC's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Her Shakespeare roles range from Regan and Lady Macbeth to Viola and Juliet.
Susan enjoys new writing and was part of the Rough Cuts 2008 season at the Royal Court, appearing in a piece of verbatim theatre about cleaners called Talking Dirty. She has also been involved in a number of Genesis projects for the Young Vic. She was a member of the Women's Theatre Group (now Sphinx) for four years, commissioning and premiering new work by women writers including Timberlake Wertenbaker, Donna Frances-Child, Bryony Lavery and Clare MacIntyre.
Her TV credits include the title role in Hannah More for HTV, several episodes of The Bill, London Bridge, Grange Hill, Who Me?, The Healing Arts and Tale Of The Red Dragon (Jackanory) for the BBC. Film includes The Duchess of Malfi in Another Green World. Radio includes Friend to Friend for BBC Radio 4.
Susan is a highly experienced role player and has worked for many years for local authorities, businesses and the London teaching hospitals. She has made a number of training films, most recently for the Department of Children, Schools and Families, playing the headmistress of a large comprehensive. She has always been interested in dance - modern, tap and Scottish - and particularly enjoyed playing the back legs of a tap-dancing camel (as well as Maid Marion) in Robin Hood and His Merrie Band.
Susan is Vice-Chair of the Women's Committee of Equity, working for better career opportunities as well as promoting the professional aspirations and talents of Equity's women members.
