Copestake
James was born and raised in Grimsby. He studied Performance for Live & Recorded Media at Teesside University, graduating in 2011 and then went on to study at The Identity School of Acting.
From there he moved to Manchester where he played The Woodcutter in Lorcas’s Blood Wedding, Alan Bennett in The Lady in the Van, and Ben in original work Benefits.
On screen he played a sinister young man opposite Ben Wishaw in the hit BBC 2 Drama London Spy, directed by Jakob Verbruggen. Continuing with the BBC, he appeared in Casualty as meningitis sufferer - Taylor Lewis.
He was an opportunistic thug in independent film The Cloaking, a lovelorn protagonist in About A Girl and a vegan vampire in comedy-horror Lockerbilly. He also writes scripts and has completed an original comedy-drama series which he is pitching for TV.
