Alex Ansdell

Alex was born and raised in Oxford and trained at Italia Conti graduating in 2023.

He made his professional debut in Strangers in Between at the Golden Goose Theatre, for which he was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Off West End Awards (the Offies). He played Shane, a 16-year old runaway in 2000s Sydney trying to make a new life, in what The Stage described as ‘an exceptional debut performance...endearingly believable’.

Since then his credits include Chris in Red Pill at The Lion & Unicorn Theatre, which received a Standing Ovation nomination at the London Pub Theatre Awards, and playing the Dame in Red Riding Hood!

He is a keen musician, playing piano, trumpet and guitar and has a fine baritone voice. He’s recently been learning electronic music production and composed the whole soundtrack for his dissertation performance – his ageing laptop does not thank him.

As a writer, his short plays have been performed across London and his debut full-length play FIT was longlisted for the Papatango Prize 2022. He is a member of The Writer’s Club at Director’s Cut Theatre after winning their prestigious Make The Cut monologue competition.

When not performing, Alex is a big sports fan – his joy at Liverpool’s success in recent years is offset by how eternally terrible his basketball team is.
