Alex Ansdell

Alex was born and raised in Oxford and trained at Italia Conti after studying at the University of Edinburgh. His roles whilst training include Konstantin in The Seagull, Robin in No Quarter and Garry in Noises Off.

Alex revels in playing quick-thinking and darkly comic characters, as in Patrick Marber’s Don Juan at the Garrick Theatre for his showcase. He has a huge love for Shakespeare and found his drive for modern, authentic interpretations after playing Hamlet whilst training.

He is a keen musician, playing piano, trumpet and guitar along with singing baritone. He’s recently been learning electronic music production and composed the whole soundtrack for his dissertation performance.

As a writer, his short plays have been performed across London and his debut full-length play FIT was longlisted for the Papatango Prize 2022. He is a member of The Writer’s Club at Director’s Cut Theatre after winning their prestigious Make The Cut monologue competition.

When not performing, Alex is a big sports fan – his joy at Liverpool’s success in recent years is offset by how eternally terrible his basketball team is.
